Overview

Three UK, a leading telecommunications provider, aimed to improve employee engagement for their Retail teams by designing an app that would simplify communication, improve collaboration, and ensure compliance on the shop floor. The goal was to create a seamless mobile experience that served as a central hub for relevant news, social interaction, and operational updates.

  • User-Centric Experience: Design an intuitive mobile app that makes accessing information and features easy and engaging.

  • Seamless Operations: Integrate essential operational tasks, such as compliance and daily activities, directly into the app.

  • Social Connectivity: Include social features to foster team interaction and recognition.

Approach

The design focused on understanding the needs of Retail teams, ensuring the app catered to both in-store and personal device use. The Home Screen was developed as the central gateway, providing quick access to spaces like the Social Feed and News. The Social Feed allowed users to interact by filtering posts, commenting, and sharing, creating a collaborative environment where teams could connect and engage.

The News section pulled in important updates, allowing admins to pin articles and enabling users to interact with content by liking, commenting, or sharing. Notifications were incorporated to ensure that users remained informed about vital updates and mentions in real-time. The interface was designed with simplicity and accessibility in mind, making it easy for teams to navigate and interact with content.

Results

3 Engage greatly improved communication and collaboration for over 3,000 Three UK retail employees, resulting in a 50% increase in user productivity and an improved user experience.
